Hearing tests are used primarily to screen dogs for congenital (born with) deafness. The BAER test (which stands for Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) is safe and painless and can usually be done without the aid of sedation. The test can be done as early as 6 weeks of age and can be done while you wait.

We maintain a supply of blood for all types of pets in case of emergency. The blood is collected from donor pets that live with their owners, and all blood is carefully screened for disease.

Pets are like our children - we feed, nurture, and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care, (such as brushing and cuddling), and supervised outdoor playtime to keep them happy and active.

Our hospital offers canine semen collection, evaluation, freezing and storage. We have been inspected and approved for these services by the American Kennel Club. We utilize the patented and highly acclaimed CASA (Computer Assisted Semen Analyzer) system, one of only three CASA units in the State of Texas.

Professional dental cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth and overall health. Our clinic uses modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Digital radiographs, or x-rays, are taken on every patient to ensure the best possible treatment for your pet. Radiographs help our doctors to diagnose abscesses, deterioration of bone, and other abnormalities that would otherwise remain unseen below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque and tarter buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity. Poor dental health can lead to liver, kidney, and even heart problems.

We have a state-of-the-art system that produces superior quality x-rays (also called radiographs) with just the touch of a button. Digital is far more advanced than traditional x-ray systems and allows us to take multiple "films" in a fraction of the time it took to develop regular x-rays. Every holiday season we will offer pet portraits by one of our own, Tracy Corley. Portraits will be put on a DVD for you to take home and use on Christmas cards, gifts or to share with loved ones. Children and adults are welcomed to join their pets for their seasonal "Smile"! Dates for 2009 photo sessions are Saturday, November 21 and Saturday, December 5 from 9a-4pm. Our highly trained staff offers consultation for canine reproductive issues and breeding soundness examinations. We employ progesterone testing and vaginal cytology for accurate timing in breeding. We are trained in multiple artificial insemination methods, including surgical and transvaginal AI, and when indicated can perform scheduled C-sections for at-risk breeds as well.

We offer advanced surgical techniques and technology. Pre-surgical blood screening is available and strongly encouraged. All patients are thoroughly examined prior to surgery, and anesthesia is specifically tailored to each pet's needs. We have a dedicated surgery suite with heated table, multiple surgical monitors, and a trained surgical technician assisting at all times. Our doctors attend extensive continuing education in order to stay current with modern surgical procedures. We offer the best in elective procedures such as spays and neuters, as well as specialized surgeries and orthopedic surgery. We have live video feed in our surgical suite should you want to watch your pet's procedure via the Internet. Our post operative care concentrates on patient comfort and pain management.

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Ultrasound is routinely used to diagnose common illness and conditions such as bladder stones, kidney disease, liver and spleen abnormalities, and also for pregnancy detection. Ultrasound can reveal a pregnancy in a pet a full two weeks before X-ray will.
